Best job site for junior Rails developers?

I recently learned Rails (your course + Hartl + Railscasts + various other programming books) and I'm considering applying to some startups as a junior web developer. Do you know where I can find job postings?

I'm not sure about junior developers, but here are some general ones for rails

I think you can start creating small projects by yourself, keep them on Github or contribute open source projects. Register to LinkedIn and post what you have done and join groups there. Make yourself visible and interesting, then people will call you, which is better than applying for positions.

I find contributing to open source projects not realistic. When starting out, you usually aren't familiar with all the API methods of rails or other gems, or the intricacies of ruby. If you had that much knowledge, I think you'd know enough to get a junior developer position. Sure, you can contribute by raising issues, rewriting README's for better clarity, and while that does boost your participation and github activity, I wouldn't say it really demonstrates coding knowledge to a significant degree for job interviews.

Just my take.

I'd go with building out sites. I hear blogs of things you learned, or documenting your jorney once or twice a week is good.

Good question, Jon. I recommend you check out the Hacker News posts to find startup-related job openings (https://news.ycombinator.com/jobs). Many larger tech companies (e.g. Google, Apple) are often looking for candidates as well, so check out their websites for job postings. Finally, you can always contact an IT recruiter. I have a couple contacts with one of the larger recruiting firms, so please email me if you want me to make an intro.

While it certainly takes more than a few months of learning to be ready for a junior web developer position, demand (and salaries) are currently high, so keep at it and I'm sure you'll be able to find a job soon!
