I am receiving an error from the scaffold I ran

I tried to do a customization where I asked for a "name" in the etsy demo buy now. So in the scaffold I added the name as a string and then all the credit card fields. When I try it out under test settings on heroku, I recieve an alert message saying: 2 errors prohibited this order from being saved: "name can't be blank" ... even though I've entered a name numerous times. What did I forget? Or mess up?

I can't tell for sure without seeing your code, but I'm guessing that it's messed up somehow. One possibility is that you screwed up when adding the 'name' field to your Order form. If your app doesn't know that the new form field is supposed to be filled with 'name', then it'll keep on waiting for the name to be populated correctly. Compare the syntax for this field with the syntax for the other Order fields (e.g. address, etc).

This fixed it!

What would you do if you had a lot of sales? Is there an export to excel function in rails? I've also been looking into ActiveAdmin ... have you ever used?
Thanks

I've used ActiveAdmin, but I'm not a fan. Some people love it, but I don't like the fact that it uses its own DSL. In other words, you have to learn their special syntax to customize its functionality. I think it can be a useful gem if you're willing to put in the time upfront to learn it and set it up.

I don't know much about export to Excel functionality, but if you're deploying your app on Heroku, you should look into Dataclips, which allows you to export your Heroku database (or specific parts of it) into Excel.
