Simple email subscription

Hello, I'm trying to add a simple subscription feature to my website where users add their emails to an input bar and click on subscribe to have their emails added to a database and then receive an email saying they have signed up successfully. Could you give me some direction as to how to go about implementing this?

Please provide more context as to what you've tried already.

For something like this, using MailChimp/Mandrill API wold be best - and integrating it with ActionMailer for user's email.

Happy to help, though I typically prefer to see what you've done so far and then guide you in the right direction. Providing the solutions outright usually isn't the best way for students to learn. What have you tried already?

After following your tutorial I was following this article to utilize mailchimp in sending those automated replies: http://aspiringwebdev.com/e-mail-in-rails-with-mailchimp-and-mandrill-a-comprehensive-guide/

However, for some reason rails is not creating a job folder in apps.

Sorry Hashma, I'm happy to help you troubleshoot any issues you're having with our BaseRails courses, but I'm afraid I can't offer troubleshooting support for outside tutorials.

Of course, but if I wanted to add a simple input bar which intakes a users email address and sends an automated email to that specific address, how would I go about adding that to yelpdemo?

What progress have you made so far? Are you having trouble creating the form, setting up the automated emails, or something else?

Hello, so it turns out, mailchimp has made it pretty simple. All I did was generate a subscription form via mailchimp and pasted their html code in my ruby on rails code!

Glad you were able to get it to work!
