What if I wanted to code a Twitter scheduling app?

I've seen a lot of apps built on top of rails that does task like schedule tweets etc. What would be the technology/gems/ etc. that I would need to put something like that together?

Got it thanks. I just wanted to build a simple app where I get the user's Twitter info and it will display a good looking chart of their data.

You can think of this as two separate features: there's the Twitter integration piece that allows users to connect and send tweets, and then there's the scheduling feature. You're going to need to become an expert at using the Twitter API - you can check out the documentation here: https://dev.twitter.com/rest/public

As for the scheduling part, you should see if Twitter has its own built-in way to do this. Otherwise, you can check out Heroku Scheduler (as shown in the Craigslist Scraper course) if you need to automate tasks to run every X minutes/hours/days. You may also want to look into the 'whenever' and 'resque' gems.
